You Can End The Cavs Season Now As Donovan Mitchell Has Been Ruled OUT For Tonight's Game Vs. The Celtics
You have got to be fucking kidding me. What did Cleveland do to the Sports Gods and how can we get out of their dog house? Because time and time again, it shows that they're out to get us. In the past month alone, just when things were starting to look up with Cleveland sports, the injury bug began to bite us. And it didn't just bite us, it ate our very best players in the city for fucking dinner. Shane Bieber needs Tommy John. Steven Kwan goes to the IL and is out at least a month. Jarrett Allen gets a punctured rib. And now Donovan Mitchell, out of the clouds, can't play in Game 4 at home??????
And don't get me wrong, I don't think the Cavs were going to win WITH Donovan Mitchell tonight. But they sure as hell have a 0.00% of winning without him. Every single person on planet Earth knows it, except for apparently Greenie, who says Boston must remain focused despite this news.
Get the fuck outta here, Greenie! Gotta remain focused? The only thing the Celtics need to focus on is where they're going between this series ending on Wednesday and when the Knicks/Pacers series goes 7 games. And even then they don't need to be focused. Talk about a cakewalk to the Finals....
- A Heat team without Jimmy Butler
- A Cavs team without Jarrett Allen and now Donovan Mitchell
- A potential matchup with the Knicks and the 0 healthy players they have left
And I'm not discrediting Boston, but holy fuck can things go Cleveland's way like that just one time? The only (very slim) chance the Cavs had to push this thing to 6 was for Donovan Mitchell to put the team on his back tonight and pray that maybe, just maybe Darius Garland could be worth a tenth of what we're paying him. But now we don't even have the guy averaging 30 in the playoffs? This series is fucking OVER.
** I hate to say this part, but it's how I feel. This is a soft move. Donovan Mitchell has earned so much good grace with this fanbase in the last couple weeks, putting the team on his back while on one leg, that people are legitimately debating whether he has surpassed NBA Champion Kyrie Irving as the 2nd best player in franchise history. That's absolutely ludicrous, but his play this postseason has made it a discussion. And now, with the entire city willing him to will us to victory tonight, he sits out with a calf strain. I'll say it because no one else in the media will: a calf is a hell of a long way from the heart.
Anyways, this could very well possibly be the end of Donovan Mitchell in a Cavs uniform. I can't see how he could possibly want to re-sign with Cleveland after next year, so the move this off-season needs to be to send him somewhere he wants to be, and charge a fortune to do so. The longer we wait, the less we get back. So it pains me to say it, as he really has been great these past two years, but trade his ass as soon as the season ends and let's see what we can get for him. And seeing as our season essentially ended with the news that just came down, put him out on the trading block tonight.
